Everyone has a Story . . . AND Hermana Conference

We continue to be astounded on a daily basis as we come to know these valiant missionaries better and learn more about their home, lives and families outside of the mission field.  All of them arrive with a story . . .

A story usually of great sacrifice, divine inspiration as they make the decision to leave their world behind  in the service of our Heavenly Father, sharing the gospel with others for a  period of 18-24 months.

Yes, each person has a story . . .

As they arrive in the mission field they leave behind families who are struggling, parents who are ill, siblings who are struggling in their faith, families who have not yet received the gospel in their life.  Some have left in the midst of their careers. Some, take a break from their rigorous studies to serve, others were full-time bread winners for their family.  Many have been members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints for less than two years, some just barely over one year . . .

Yes, each person has a story . . .

We are so inspired by all of them.

One young missionary had no one who would greet him at the airport as he arrived back home from his service . . . he asked if we could possibly provide taxi fare so he could travel to the home of a sister . . .
One young missionary lost a mother to cancer during the time spent here serving  . . .
Another missionary's father was murdered shortly before arrival in the mission field . . .
Yes . . . everyone has a story . . .
And now . . .
We bring you the fabulous sister missionaries!
Just a glimpse of a Preparation day / Mini Training meeting to get to know our
sisters, our hermanas
a little better!

Our focus for the day was on following the example
of the Savior Jesus Christ.
As we develop the attributes of Christ in our life,
we become better able to reach out and serve others.
We can understand and come to love more, those whom we teach.

We began the day with a light breakfast of juice, milk and cold cereal.
Our Sister Training Leaders went to a lot of work to have everything set up
and ready for us when we arrived at the church.
They even cut up tons of fruit for us to have with our cereal!

Our Sister Training Leaders (a newly created role here in the mission field that involves
and represents the sisters on the mission leadership council)
also prepared a scripture chase activity - that involved a treasure hunt for items
located somewhere in the church.

You can see that they add a great deal of "Espiritu"
to our mission
and
to the missionary work here in the
San Pedro Sula East Mission.
